Fall in the Truckee/Tahoe Region

The Truckee/Tahoe region offers 4 seasons of fun but one of our favorite is Fall or Autumn! Get your camera ready!

Donner Memorial State Park and the Emigrant Trail boast vibrant landscapes, but Martis Valley is one of the most accessible spots from Truckee. The newly completed 10.2-mile scenic trail, connecting downtown Truckee to Northstar, offers a picturesque journey. Along the way, you’ll encounter the striking contrast of golden and brown willows and grasses set against the rich green of the pines.

Have you checked out the Summit Valley trail that leads to the Bill Patterson Loop? https://www.truckeedonnerlandtrust.org/summit-valley-trail Summit Valley is a subalpine meadow that is host to 20 species of mammals, 100+ species of birds, 500+ species of plants, and numerous butterflies.

Take a scenic drive and head north on Highway 89 towards Sierraville and the Sierra Valley. Take in the Aspens, Willows and Cottonwoods painting the landscape with brilliant yellows. Running along the Truckee River there are many magical spots for taking in the sounds and scene of fall in the mountains!

As you head out of Truckee along Highway 267, you’ll be greeted by the golden and brown hues of willows and grasses. For some of the best fall colors around Lake Tahoe, be sure to visit Page Meadows, Fallen Leaf Lake, and Sugar Pine Point State Park.

Autumn comes and goes quick so don’t miss the magic!!
