Greetings Fellow Life Travelers:

Quieter week with a nice start on Sunday evening with Tahoe Music Alive’s dual piano jazz concert at Granlibakken.  Then on Monday, talented European car mechanic, Evan, picked up my new-old 2012 to check it out and gave it high marks!  Am loving it and now tasked with keeping it looking like it did on arrival. The extra seat area is all Dancer’s, now swathed in covers and towels to keep flying fur off the carpet surfaces. I worked on getting a new lakefront under construction ready for Friday posting on MLS, and Amie’s been handling one we have in escrow and now a new one we’ll have ready later next week to go live.  I’m also on the hunt for a lakeview unit at Tavern Shores in case you have a connection with an owner who might want to sell.  Thursday I took friends who’ve owned at Tahoe for 33 years to Thunder Thursday, a summer event for members and guests at Thunderbird Lodge, and a new experience for them.  Such fun to see the enthusiasm when experiencing this beautiful place for the first time….and all the rest of the times! Residential Real Estate – week 8/16 – 8/22 

  • Tahoe Sierra MLS – North/West Shores & Truckee.  New Listings – 42; Escrows – 35; Solds – 32
  • Incline Village/Crystal Bay MLS.  New Listings – 7; Escrows – 5; Solds – 8
  • East Shore, NV MLS.  New Listings – 2; Escrows – 1; Solds – 3
  • Reno/Sparks MLS.  New Listings – 115; Escrows – 126; Solds – 70

Good action for Tahoe Sierra MLS with our new lakefront listing under construction on the market at $22M, and Lahontan has a dynamic new listing at $8.625 – big number for that complex.  In escrow is Martis Camp listing at $17.995M, and 3 lakefronts sold at $11.5M, $14.9M and $15.5M. Now there are 14 single family homes on North and West Shores active, 3 in escrow and 11 sold so far this year. Lakefront action on the Nevada side quiet right now. 

Local/Real Estate/Luxe

  • Ready for this?  Heavenly and Northstar to open for skiing November 21, and Kirkwood Dec 5.  
  • Truckee River Watershed Council.  Take a look at the many projects this organization has accomplished as they continue their work in our region:  Our Work — Foriver
  • Louis L’Amour fans can look forward to the movie version of FLINT, in production now.  The writers and producers hope to reignite the Western film genre with this as a start.
  • Gatekeeper’s Museum and Watson Cabin: Watson Cabin is into Phase 2 of revitalization.  Grant from TOT/TBID Dollars at Work Program to restore the outside of the oldest log cabin structure in North Lake Tahoe including replacement of some of the original 1908 rotten logs. Donation of $1000 or more will have name engraved on permanent plaque in cabin. Visit the Museum for upcoming exhibit re logging in Tahoe’s history.   • Lakefront Owners:  If you have a water intake line from the lake, file a Statement of Use with TRPA in order to protect ability to keep using it. 
  • Happy Wheels!  Pet Network in Incline Village has a rental program for disabled doggies. They can assist with purchase information too.  www.petnetwork.org (no info on website so call – 775-832-4404)
  • The RealReal, luxury resale platform, posted strong Q2 2025 results with 14% YoY revenue increase.
  • U.S. is on track to close as many as 15,000 retail stores in 2025, including Macy’s, Big Lots, Walgreens, and Rite Aid.  Retailers like Walmart, Costco and Target are expected to weather the storm.  Retailers who adapt tech, tune into customer values and redesign their entire shopping experience are posed to succeed.
