Tahoe Update

Greetings Fellow Life Travelers:

Ok, then.  Time for serious snow!  Coming down steadily on Saturday as I write, snuggy and warm in my house with Dancer watching it fall out the office door.  So far, a good 3’ on my decks, so much that Miss Muffet won’t venture out unless I open the garage door where it’s not quite so intimidating.  (My princess GSD.)  Whatever the totals….and more to come this week…we’ll be happy to have the buildup for the watershed.  On a fun note, here’s a report from my friend who attended the World Cup event last weekend at Palisades Tahoe:  “Went to the WC races on Sat.  Glorious bluebird day!  Palisades did an amazing job of presenting themselves to the world.  I was very impressed and proud of them!  Huge crowds and they didn’t miss a thing with the mammoth grandstands at the base of the course and Jumbotrons in strategic locations.  Made me realize what a very big deal it is to have a World Class event on our mountain!  Palisades is to be applauded!!  Can’t say enough!!  Heard that some Contestants were saying this was the best course on the circuit.”  In 1969, I helped boot-pack the hill with many others in advance of the Men’s World Cup event (when it was Squaw Valley).  Nice to read such a great report of this year’s event! So, let’s see how events went in real estate this week.

Residential Real Estate – week 2/24 – 3/1

  • Tahoe Sierra MLS – North/West Shores & Truckee.  New Listings – 10; Escrows – 20; Solds – 9
  • Incline Village/Crystal Bay MLS.  New Listings – 4; Escrows – 1; Solds – 5
  • East Shore, NV MLS.  New Listings – 2; Escrows – 3; Solds – 2
  • Reno/Sparks MLS.  New Listings – 100; Escrows – 143; Solds – 122

Looks like Tahoe Sierra has some action during President’s/Ski Week, and the Reno market has picked up.  Reno had a nice quick escrow listed at $4.2M, a new build on an acre that went to escrow in 19 days.

Local/Real Estate/Luxe

  • Tesla Cybertruck.  Saw my first one recently in Truckee, driving on the other side of the street.  Odd looking thing for sure, but sturdy!  Even though the exterior rusts, I read that it was involved with a pickup truck crash and there were no dents on the Tesla, but the pickup sustained a bunch.  And, a test drive to confirm the distance promoted came out fine, a first as Tesla tends to overstate range.
  • Rivian has jumped in as a major sponsor of Realm-global’s upcoming annual collaborative to be held in Laguna Beach in May.  I am privileged to be a member of this esteemed group of 600 individual Realtors focused on the luxury market in cool places across the states and internationally.
