North Shore
North Lake Tahoe is a collection of several north shore communities and subdivisions including Lake Forest, Dollar Point, Cedar Flat, Carnelian Bay, Agate Bay, Tahoe Vista, and Kings Beach, one of the oldest at the Lake. The Coast Guard Station is at Lake Forest with boat ramp access, and historic Bacchi’s dinner restaurant is still going. Dollar Point subdivision is home to many locals and has a community pier, buoys, tennis courts, pool, and clubhouse. Gar Woods restaurant, famous for its Wet Woody, is in Carnelian Bay along with Sierra Boat Company, well known in the woody boating world for its restorations.
The Old Post Office breakfast/lunch restaurant is across the street along with Miniature Golf. Next is Agate Bay with its lakefront pier and buoys for its subdivision members. Tahoe Vista has an old-time steak house, a few motels, the Tahoe Vista Inn and Marina, the North Tahoe Marina, and Moon Dune beach. Kings Beach offers a charming, walkable downtown area with beautiful public beach offering several water sport opportunities, including Para-sailing.
New developments are in the planning stages for the main corridor, and there are modest cabins throughout the grid. Highway 267 terminates at Kings Beach and is the direct route to Northstar California, Truckee, and Interstate 80.
The North Shore is comprised of full-time residents as well as vacation owners….typical for our whole area. From here we proceed up Brockway Hill to the Nevada State Line.
