Greetings Fellow Life Travelers:
Wellness is a $2T – that’s Trillion –economy in the United States. A wide range of categories include fitness and physical activity, nutrition, weight loss and healthy eating, mental wellness, personal care, beauty and anti-aging, preventative medicine and health services, wellness tourism and spas, and workplace wellness programs. Aspects of this economy are being reflected in homes where some are adding not just gyms, but things like spas, saunas, cold plunges, Red Light Therapy, Hyperbaric Chambers, clean air and water systems, circadian lighting and other wellness-related modalities. Luxury is being redefined, from marble and square footage to health, time and vitality. High-net-worth buyers are now focused on ‘longevity properties’, with longevity the fastest-growing driver inside of wellness. Tahoe, with its clean air and abundance of nature and outdoor activities, is a prime candidate for location. Its focus on wellness is reflected in one example – the number of resources in Truckee – from Kensho Wellbeing, a next-generation health and performance clinic, to Healwell PT, blending modern physical therapy techniques with state-of-the-art healing technologies, to Tahoe Forest Wellness, complimentary health providers, several Red Light Therapy offices and even a Hyperbaric Chamber. Now let’s look at the health of real estate this last week.
Residential Real Estate – week 4/18 – 4/24
| Location | New Listings | Escrows | Solds |
| N/W Shores/Truckee MLS | 26 | 16 | 13 |
| Incline/Crystal Bay MLS | 12 | 3 | 8 |
| East Shore MLS | 5 | 5 | 2 |
| Reno/Sparks MLS | 132 | 148 | 104 |
Incline had a nice lakefront condo, listed at $4.4M sell for $4.2M, and East Shore had a nice Chase sale at $4.25M. Reno was abuzz with two big listings – a Montreux 11,000 sq. ft. home with tennis court at $9.75M, and a 10,000 sq. ft. pano-view home on 16 acres for $5.9M. Interestingly, there were only 10 sold listings over $1M but 29 in the escrow group.
