Greetings Fellow Life Travelers:
After a beautiful weekend, a week of clouds, sprinkles and rain! Good for the forest but we’re not quite ready to head into winter. From the 50s to a high of 69 next Wednesday, then back to a week of the 50s. Last Wednesday, I attended a Broker Open at Oasis in Reno, an understated, elegant 2.35-acre estate on about 300 feet of the Truckee River, close to downtown action. Getting to this hidden gem feels like the Old West as you cross railroad tracks to reach an enclave of homes nestled in beautiful trees along with new homes already built on two of four available lots. The estate of main house, guest house, 2 casitas, pool and landscape gardens is listed at $9.9M, well below its original build cost in 2009 by visionary philanthropists who favored privacy over show. Any takers? It’s worth a look! Now to see what the market looked like last week.

- Model Art Train Display – Truckee Rec Center – Fridays between 2 and 5 for interactive showings and trains running. Model from 1927 showing steam trains can be viewed during open hours.
- Skyrunning. Running in the mountains above 6561 ft. with incline over 30%. Steep inclines and precipitous descents are what make this challenging and fun. Fun? Really? Truckee has a local, Cal Poly incoming freshman, who established herself as one of the premier female youth runners in the world this summer.
- Haunted Halloween Pub Crawl – Oct 25 – 4 – 10PM. New for Tahoe City…gotta get the ghouls out for a growling good time at this Zombie event. Also new, Haunted Historic Walking Tours – same day from 11am to 4pm.
- Market prediction – NAR: Economist Lawrence Yun thinks the lackluster market should rebound soon. Declining rates and increased inventory are harbingers of good news.
