Tahoe Update

Greetings Fellow Life Travelers:

During winter, Int 80 in our area is notorious for big rig jack-knifes and crashes on icy roads.  We don’t expect to see similar when the roads are dry, but doesn’t seem to matter.  Friday a big rig took an offramp near Truckee a little too fast, overturned and spilled a carload of organic sugar along the Truckee River bank.  (Because it was organic, no hazmat required for cleanup.)  Suffice it to say that all of it didn’t get collected, so imagine there was quite a treat for the bears and other wildlife.  Wonder if they get sugar highs?   Now let’s see what hit high marks in real estate this last week.

  • Residential Real Estate – week 5/13 – 5/19
  • Tahoe Sierra MLS – North/West Shores & Truckee.  New Listings – 27; Escrows – 12; Solds – 16
  • Incline Village/Crystal Bay MLS.  New Listings – 12; Escrows – 3; Solds – 1
  • East Shore, NV MLS.  New Listings – 5; Escrows – 7; Solds – 3
  • Reno/Sparks MLS.  New Listings – 122; Escrows – 145; Solds – 105

For Tahoe Sierra, the new $5.95M listing at FDL went to escrow, and Lahontan had a $5.25M sale.  Incline had a $9M new lakefront come on – just off Lakeshore Blvd as you head down the East Shore.  A view home on the eastern slope listed at $9.85M went to escrow…nice Chase listing.  The East Shore had a $7.995M lakefront go to escrow – another Chase listing.  And, Chase also had a new lakefront listing at the Tahoe Keys (CA) for $9.8M.  Things are picking up!

  • Risotto.  Not much on the supermarket shelves yesterday so I decided to improvise.  Dinner last night was a risotto made with some mushrooms I foraged for locally.  Not only was it delicious, but soon after a Welsh male voice choir of purple elephants showed up and sang the whole Meatloaf’s Bat Out of Hell album, accompanied by a light show.

Best wishes,
