Tahoe Update - August 23rd

Greetings Fellow Life Travelers:

A quiet week of ‘working on business’ and getting ready for our Open House at 255 Drum Road on Friday.  It was well attended with lots of compliments for this new lakefront build on a private road on Tahoe’s West Shore.  There are very few newly built lakefronts that come on the market, so this one is special.  It also comes with the opportunity to work with Reverie3D’s beautifully-curated furnishings for delivery within 6 weeks of contract – almost unheard-of delivery time for custom orders.  Now to find the perfect buyer!  Here’s a look at this week’s real estate activity.

Residential Real Estate – week 8/15 – 8/21

Tahoe Sierra MLS had a lakefront, originally listed in July 2021 at $23.5M finally sell after several price reductions for $13.5M, the price it should have been originally.  A nice Christy Hill Road (Olympic Valley) home, listed in 4/24 for $7.5M sold for $6.1M.  For Incline/Crystal Bay, the most expensive Stillwater Cove condo listed so far at $10.995M, sold for $10.65M.  East Shore had a lakefront listed at $53M to go escrow after a short time on the market. And, Reno had an Arrow Creek home come on at $6.15M and a Montreux Chase listing at $4.7M go to escrow. 

Local/Real Estate/Luxe

• The Lion.  Jon Favreau spent years bringing The Lion King to life through technology. Now he’s turned to the real thing. Lion, the four-part National Geographic series he executive produced with Mike Gunton, follows a cub named Kio through four years in Kenya’s Maasai Mara. Premiering August 19 on Nat Geo, then Disney+ and Hulu the next day, there are no animatronics or scripted drama. Just nature, unfolding on its own terms. Marc Hernandez, The Beat

• Tahoe Summit – on August 19 celebrating 30 years of bi-partisan activism to ‘Keep Tahoe Blue’ and discussing plans for the next 30. Originated by U.S. Senators Harry Reid and Diane Feinstein in 1997, Team Tahoe continues to work collaboratively across states and party lines to accomplish over 900 lake-saving projects.  “For every $1M invested in those goals, around $1.6M in economic output is generated”, said U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen.

• Beyond Possible.  All-day forum on Health & Resilience sponsored by Tahoe Forest Health System and the Thomas D. Hobday Medical Lectureship. • You can’t pour from an empty cup.  Take care of yourself first.  (From Auberge du Soleil, promoting their wellness attributes)

• Just caught a glimpse of my laugh lines in the mirror.  I don’t remember anything that funny.

• Is it safe to eat lettuce again or should I stick with Hostess Cupcakes?

• I don’t want a world where everything is automated. I don’t want trains without conductors, restaurants where you must order through an app, or supermarkets without cashiers.  Convenience is nice, but I’ll choose a smile, a conversation, and human kindness every time.

• Frugal Rules:  1) If you can’t afford it twice, wait.  2) Convenience costs more than you think.  3) Sales don’t equal savings. 4) Cheap can be expensive.  5) Small leaks sink budgets.  6) Not everything deserves an upgrade.

• 5000 years eating bread and suddenly, in one decade, everyone is allergic to gluten.

• Well here’s a positive take on my life.  I’ve reached the age where I can cross ‘dying young’ off my list of things to worry about. 

• I bet y’all ain’t laughing at the Amish anymore.  They clickity, clackin right past the gas station.

• Is an argument between two vegans still called a Beef?

• Windows cannot find the file.  Would you like some wine instead?
