Tahoe Update - July 26th

Greetings Fellow Life Travelers:

The Kid Zone, a wonderful asset for small ones in Truckee, broke ground for its new building and presence next to the Regional Park, a short distance from where the new Library will go.  These two improvements will be a huge enhancement for residents and visitors, and the Kid Zone will have accommodation for older children in the future.  The Shakespear Festival continues until August 23rd, along with fun concerts through August, so check them out:  https://laketahoeshakespeare.com/showcase-series/.  Now to look at real estate activity this last week.

Residential Real Estate – week 7/18 – 7/24

Tahoe Sierra had a $14.2M listing on West Shore go to escrow after starting on the market at $23.5 in July 2021.  After 7 price changes, if finally appears to be heading to close.  Olympic Valley had a $6.425M listing go to escrow after originally listed at $7.5M in April 2024 and 3 price changes.  Crystal Bay had a Stillwater Cove listing at $10.995M go to escrow.  This end unit was originally 5 BR, then a down-to-studs remodel to 4BR, 5BA – gorgeous!  East Shore had a lakefront estate come on at $53M – will be fun to watch!  Lastly, Reno had a south Reno estate list at $10.95M.

Local/Real Estate/Luxe

• Waterman’s Landing in Carnelian Bay, a popular site for swimming ,paddle boarding, and kayaking, is getting upgrades to its beach access with a new boardwalk, picnic area and other amenities. The Café has great food and coffee!  Tahoe Fund is partnering with the Tahoe California Conservancy for this project, and there is a Tahoe Fund donor offering to match funds up to $75,000.  The Tahoe Waterman Foundation runs adaptive paddling programs here. • Tahoe City is launching a survey to guide next steps for a Tahoe City Recreation Center.

• IKEA.  Who wudda thunk?  Vintage pieces from the 1970s and  beyond are capturing amazing prices at auction and sale.  The Impala lounge chair, sold in 1971 for $354 (adjusted for inflation) is now listed at $12,705.  Not all vintage pieces command this much escalation – can depend on number made to begin with. TidBits

• My desire to be well-informed is currently at odds with my desire to remain sane.  New Yorker

• Cottage cheese is not really cheese.  It just a curd to me.

• I recently entered a competition to see who’d gained the most weight and lost the most hair.  It wasn’t called that, it was advertised as a “Class Reunion”.

• When I point my remote control directly at the television, it barely works.  If I accidentally sit on it, it will switch from Peacock to Netflix, turn on closed captioning, and then turn itself on and off 4 times.

• You can’t give life more time, so give the time you have more life.

• Plenty of growth can be found in removing your vices, but the real leaps are unlocked when you stop clinging to your comforts.  James Clear
