Tahoe Update October 25th

Greetings Fellow Life Travelers:

Thunder, rain and a bit of snow on mountain tops entertained us for a day this week.  Back to dry at least to end of the month with temps in the 50s. The annual Haunted History Tour in Truckee was another big success, this time with one of the vignettes in our Chase office set up as a saloon with the 601s (6’ down, 0 trial, 1 bullet) on the hunt for a cheating poker player, collusion with the sheriff and successful ripoff of illicit funds.  Area feels quieter, though it’s hard to say that it’s ‘off season’ as restaurants continue to flourish.  Friends raved about the new Rosewood Tahoe in Incline Village and said it was very busy on Wednesday night.  Let’s see how busy real estate was this last week.

Residential Real Estate – week 10/17 – 10/23

North Shore had a lakefront listed last week at $10.6M go to escrow and a lakefront listed by Chase originally at $8.5M close at $6.6M. The East Shore had a part of the Shakespear Ranch collective list at $49.5M – new construction with a lakefront cabana. 

Local/Real Estate/Luxe

• New Restaurant!  Truckee Prime Steakhouse located at former FiftyFifty Brewing space at The Rock!  Scheduled to open in November.

• Single-use plastic water bottles – Placer County.  The vote to eliminate their sale in the Tahoe area was voted down - amazing after Truckee and South Lake Tahoe accomplished that at least a year ago.  

• Annual Truckee Ski and Snowboard Swap:  November 7 – 11am  - 4pm.  Community Rec Center.

• Biomass Facility approved by Placer County.  Location – Eastern Regional Landfill, south of Truckee. To be started next spring and will process biomass from regional forests.

• Nevada Museum of Art:  Broad Stripes, Bright Stars – collection of America’s icons from a private collection to celebrate 250 years.  Opens November 7. To May 15.  Historic American flags plus patriotic items, folk art, toys and commercial ephemera. 

TidBits

• I had a thought and then I had another thought.  They bounced off each other and now I can’t find either one.

• One thing no one ever talks about being an adult is how much time you debate yourself on keeping a cardboard box because it’s, like, a really good box. 

• I used to think being at home and doing nothing all day was boring, but as an adult it’s literally my definition of a good day.

• Unlike the brain, the stomach alerts you when it’s empty.

• When I was in school, we made ashtrays for our parents in art class.

• I’m confused how a cemetery can raise its funeral prices and blame it on the cost of living.

• I don’t know the exact formula for happiness, but hearing, “Cabin crew, prepare for take off”, has never once ruined my day.  

• There’s not one person walking this earth that is worth you laying awake at night feeling like you are not good enough.

• Whoever said, “Out of sight, out of mind”, never had a spider disappear in their bedroom.

• Your X-Ray showed a broken rib, but we fixed it with photoshop.

• It’s important to look closely at lawn signs during election campaigns. Last time I voted for a real estate agent.

• The amount of good things in your life depends on your ability to notice them.

• To be happy you must eliminate two things:  the fear of the future and the memory of a bad past. 

• They say every glass of wine shortens your life by 5 minutes. I’ve done the math and it seems I died in 1844.

• I don’t need my 20-year-old body back.  I’d just like this one to stop introducing new features without my permission.

• I replaced my rooster with a duck.  Now I wake up at the quack of dawn.
