Tahoe Update - September 20th

Greetings Fellow Life Travelers:

Although we’re not quite at the equinox, fall colors are emerging, prompting planning trips into outlying areas for beautiful viewing expected to peak between Oct 10 and 24.  Interest in our area isn’t waning as restaurants are full even during the week.  Had a beautiful dinner at Wolfdale’s on Wednesday, hopping with activity, and noticed a full parking lot at Savoie when I drove by. Jakes, open for dinner and weekends for lunch, will close mid-October for good.  Sunnyside will have its final dinner Oct 2 followed by a remodel with anticipated reopening in April 2027.  

Residential Real Estate – week 9/12 – 9/19

Lahontan was impressive with escrows in the $5M and $6M ranges, and Martis Camp had an off-market $14.75M listing sell for $13.1M.  Crystal Bay had a lakefront listed at $12.25M go to escrow and a Stillwater Cove 2 BR unit list at $3.75M. East Shore had a lakefront listed at $23.988M go to escrow, and Reno had a big one listed at $13.95M go into contract.  Nice to see some big numbers moving again.  

Local/Real Estate/Luxe

• Wine, Walk & Shop – Saturday Oct 3 – Downtown Truckee.  Very popular annual event! Tickets – https://truckeewinewalk.com/

• Tahoe Fund’s Wildfire Resilience Initiative just received a $750,000 grant from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation to lead a science-driven effort to increase wildfire resilience for communities and forest ecosystems in the Tahoe/Sierra Region.

• Floriston fire gave us a scare, but fortunately the winds took it away from the Town of Truckee and no structures were involved.  Fire is 35% contained as of 9/19 and appears to no longer be a threat.

• The American Mall – in recent years considered history – is now outperforming every other commercial property type.  Who wudda known?  Good news for languishing centers as they get reinvigorated with luxury stores and good restaurants.  WSJ
