Tahoe Update - September 27th

Greetings Fellow Life Travelers:
Forget the social stuff – this week was educational! First event was introduction to the Homewood Mountain and Lake Club – probably the most impressive and sophisticated club offering in our area. I had a tour of two of the current facilities as well as the two different floor plans of the 8 homes offered for sale next to Homewood Resort. The approximately 10-year plan for Homewood Resort development includes mountain-side condominiums being started next year. The Club is something special, showcasing The Lake Club (former West Shore Café) that is collaborating with High & Dry Marina next door to provide buoys and premium marina services for members. Closed now for refurbishing before ski season starts, it has a renewed lawn area with wellness attributes and entertaining components, a bar, fine dining and a Comfort Station (typical in all Discovery Land clubs) for complimentary snacks and lunch items, along with other amenities. Across the street and next to Homewood Resort is the first of the Mountain Club with sports bar, table games, golf simulator and, of course, a Comfort Station.
The other opportunity was the first Beyond Impossible: The Tahoe Forum on Health & Resilience, put on by the Tahoe Forest Health System. This all-day event included an amazing interview with our local resident, Jim Morrison, the National Geographic-featured Mountaineer and only person to ski down the north slope of Mt. Everest. His Documentary will come out October 30. In meantime, google Jim Morrison Everest for a snapshot of his story. There was a clinical-innovation panel with several docs, a Search & Rescue panel that was most informational with tips on rescue-prevention, and then the Thomas Hobday Lectureship presentation by Dr. Gurpreet Dhaliwal addressing the presence of AI and how it blends with human attributes in the medical profession. Fascinating day with promise of an expanded program next year.

Every night we go to sleep without a guarantee of living tomorrow, yet we still set an alarm to wake up. That is hope!
So…between yesterday’s mistakes and tomorrow’s hope, there is a fantastic opportunity called….TODAY!
The older I get, the less I feel the need to be included, considered, understood or accepted.
You cannot change the people around you, but you can change the people around you.
I was out with friends and had a bit too much to drink. So I called my daughter to pick me up. On the way home I asked, “Can we stop at McDonald’s?” She looked at me and said, “I’ve been waiting my whole life to say this: No, there’s food at home.”
Lying about my age is easier now that I have trouble remembering what it is.
Kind of scary when the weather man is the closest one to telling the truth on the news these days.
I don’t remember being gluten free. I remember eating paste. Nobody had allergies, We all just ate dirt and moved on. Your ‘gluten free diet’ was called “eat what’s on your plate”. We didn’t know what gluten was, and we turned out just fine except for Kenny – Kenny ate crayons.
Teacher: Tell me the difference between a callgirl, girlfriend and wife. The whole class was silent until Little Johnny put us his hand and answered, “Prepaid, postpaid and unlimited”.
If you feel depressed, go for a run. You will find out that your physical health is far worse than your mental health.
When I was a kid, they didn’t take me to a psychologist. My mom was able to open my chakra, stabilize my karma and clean my aura with one single slap.
Sometimes I wonder what happened to the people who asked me for directions.
When they say your dog is a reflection of you, and you realize he doesn’t listen, has an attitude problem, is very dramatic and always hungry.

I never panic when I get lost. I just change where I want to go.
Natives lived here to 1000 years and never needed signs “Do not pet the buffalo”.
Inoculate your kids against socialism by having them clean the bathroom. Pay them $10, then take away $7 and give it to the sibling who didn’t help.
Women are angels. And when someone breaks our wings, we simply continue to fly on a broomstick. We’re flexible like that.
And broomsticks are getting ready for flying in two weeks! Donner Lake Witch Paddle is Saturday, October 10 starting at 9:30 for the ritual and new moon intention setting. 11:00 AM launch. Register: www.donnerwitchpaddle.com In the meantime, have a great week!
